From what I have been reading around the NBA Blogosphere, Chauncey Billups has agreed to resign with the Pistons. Nothing is official yet, but it looks like the deal will be about $60 million over five years. Maybe this is for the best, but I wouldn’t have done it. That sure is a lot of cash that would have been freed up in the salary cap.

Chauncey for Rashard would never work for the Pistons. Firstly, what would they do with Tayshaun Prince at small forward? They deffinitely can’t have that type of talent coming off the bench, so according to your theory, they’d have to trade him too for a point guard? There’s nothing that great out there, especially not better than Billups. He’s one of the best in the league! I think we all have a bad perception of him based on his meltdown in the playoffs last year, and why not? That being said, I’d still rather him holding the ball on my team rather than anyone else. The Pistons have a great dynamic going, its just a matter of adding some more great pieces to the puzzle in order to be serious Championship contenders once again!

Lewis is tall enough to play power foward. Just move Rasheed to center whether he likes it or not. And there are many point guards out there better than Billups. Look at Steve Nash, Tony Parker, Jason Kidd (although he’s getting old), Baron Davis, Allen Iverson, or Gilbert Arenas. All of those guys are better than Billups. I don’t really want to go into a huge deal about this though, it’s not like anything will happen anyways. Billups will most likely be back next season if I like it or not.
